If cloud is the 4th generation of computing, Gary Duffield took up a career in IT during the first generation. Specializing in providing remote access to Sperry and Honeywell mainframes in far-flung datacentres. He survived centralized, decentralized, client-server computing and the internet. He’s now in the 4th generation, providing access to cloud services in far-flung datacentres. Gary had a senior role with UK training provider QA Training for over 25 years, including launching their social media strategy and early cloud evangelism. In 2011 a mid-life crisis saw Gary disrupt his life, at 45 he moved to Australian learning partner DDLS. He now sits on the senior leadership team of Australians only authorized training partner that can offer Azure, AWS and Google Cloud training. Hybrid mainframes are the future.
Gary is a renowned speaker, is a passionate supporter of mentoring having run the programme for the Australian Computer Society. As a dad with a daughter, he supports Women in IT and is an active mentor for children’s charity The Smith Family. Supporting children through education.
