Helen King is a distinguished academic with extensive experience in classical studies and medical history. Currently serving as Professor Emerita at The Open University since January 2011, King has produced a significant MOOC on Health and Wellbeing in the Ancient World and has held leadership roles in various educational initiatives. Additionally, King acts as a Bishops’ Reviewer for Ministerial Training within the Church of England and has been a reviewer for the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education since 2001. Previous positions include professorships at Gustavus Adolphus College and the University of Vienna, as well as a progression from Lecturer to Professor of the History of Classical Medicine at the University of Reading. King holds a PhD in History from UCL, complementing an academic journey that includes early research fellowships at the University of Cambridge and Newcastle University.
