Julie Bouckaert is a seasoned researcher with extensive experience in glycobiology and bacterial adhesion. Currently serving as a CNRS researcher at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique since October 2010, Julie is part of a multidisciplinary team in glycobiology in Villeneuve d'Ascq. Prior to this, Julie held the position of Staff Scientist at VIB, focusing on the glycobiology of infections caused by pathogenic E. coli, and worked as a Project Leader Scientist at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, leading projects on fimbrial adhesion in E. coli infections. Julie began research in bacterial adhesion and urinary tract infections at Washington University School of Medicine and completed a PhD at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where the mapping of metal and carbohydrate binding sites of concanavalin A was conducted. Julie holds a Bachelor in Science in Protein Crystallography from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and a GSO in Biology from the University of Antwerp.
