Stephane Gros

Stephane Gros is a Researcher at CNRS since 2008, specializing in Himalayan studies. From April 2017 to 2019, Gros served as a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, contributing to the Himalayan Studies Initiative within the Institute of South Asia Studies. Additionally, Gros held positions as Editor at Large and Managing Editor for HAU: Journal of Ethnographic Theory from 2011 to 2017, focusing on open-access anthropology research. Between 2012 and 2016, Gros was the Principal Investigator for the ERC Starting Grant project titled “Territories, Communities and Exchanges in the Sino-Tibetan Kham Borderlands,” funded by the European Research Council, with the research hosted by CNRS's Centre d'études Himalayennes.
