Junior Game Designer at Coatsink

Michael Kirby has a diverse work experience in the gaming and design industry. Michael started their career as a 2D Artist and Animator at Cloudrealm Studios, where they worked on a fast-paced pixel art game. Michael then became a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University for the Creative Arts, where they taught digital software and created learning materials.

After that, Michael worked as a Technical Tutor Digital Media at the University for the Creative Arts, teaching students in Adobe software packages and creating on-brand learning materials. Michael also worked as a Freelance Concept Artist, creating commercial graphic designs for the film industry and commercial businesses.

Michael later joined Roll7 as a UI Designer, where they designed UI/UX designs, wireframes, and created static and animated UI assets. Michael also contributed to complex UI features and worked in an agile environment with different departments.

Following their time at Roll7, Michael worked as a Junior Game Designer at Supermassive Games Ltd, where they gained experience in game design. After that, they joined Coatsink as a Junior UI/UX Artist, where they developed UI mockups and prototypes, created original UI art assets, and followed style and brand guides.

Throughout their career, Michael has demonstrated a strong understanding of design principles, software proficiency, and the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.

Michael Kirby's education history is as follows:

From 2019 to 2020, Michael attended Goldsmiths, University of London, where they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Computer Games Art and Design.

Prior to that, from 2014 to 2017, Michael attended the University for the Creative Arts, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Games Art.

In the years 2012 to 2014, Michael studied at Northbrook MET College, where they completed a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Graphic Design and Illustration.

Before that, from 2011 to 2012, Michael also studied at Northbrook MET College, where they obtained a BTEC Level 2 First Diploma in Art and Design.

In addition to their formal education, Michael has also obtained various certifications. In September 2019, they completed the "Game Design Foundations: 3 Pitch, Propose, and Practice" certification from LinkedIn. In August 2019, they completed the "Game Design Careers with Brenda Romero" certification, also from LinkedIn. In July 2019, they completed the "Game Design Foundations: 2 Systems, Chance, and Strategy" certification. In June 2019, they completed the "Game Design Foundations: 1 Ideas, Core Loops, and Goals" certification. Lastly, in March 2019, they completed the "C# for Unity Game Development" certification, all from LinkedIn.
