Victor Ssemaganda

Victor Ssemaganda has a diverse work experience in IT, mainly focused on DevOps. Victor began their career as a Software Developer at Andela in December 2017 and transitioned to the role of DevOps Engineer in May 2018. During their time at Andela, they managed the CI/CD pipeline and infrastructure for a monolithic product written in Ruby on Rails, as well as a microservice and two PostgreSQL databases hosted on Google Cloud Platform. Victor utilized various tools such as Packer, CircleCi, Terraform, Bash, Python, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes to ensure efficient and reliable application deployments. Victor also participated in a cost management audit for three products, providing cost optimization solutions and implementing them.

Before joining Andela, Victor worked as an Applications/Development Consultant at HRP Solutions in Uganda from October 2015 to October 2016. In this role, they primarily worked with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Excel. Victor'sresponsibilities included customizing program features in Microsoft Dynamics NAV, documenting and guiding clients on how the customizations worked, and designing reports as per client requests.

More recently, Victor joined Cobblestone Energy in April 2020 as a DevOps Engineer. At Cobblestone Energy, they containerized several applications following best practices to build secure and efficient images. Victor also set up CI/CD pipelines for applications written in Python, Java, and ElectronJS and created separate infrastructure environments for testing, staging, and production using EC2 instances, Kubernetes clusters, and PostgreSQL RDS instances. To manage application logs, Victor utilized Cloudwatch.

Victor Ssemaganda obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Electronics majoring in Computer from Multimedia University. Victor attended this university from 2009 to 2014. In December 2020, they obtained a certification in "Using Python to Interact with the Operating System" from Coursera | Google.
