Sean Chittenden

Sean Chittenden serves as the Sr. Director of Engineering at Cockroach Labs since June 2022. Previously, Chittenden was a Software Engineer at DoorDash from August 2019 to June 2022, and a Core Team Member of FreeBSD from August 2002 to June 2022. Chittenden also held engineering roles at Joyent (Samsung) where responsibilities included pioneering next-generation hypervisor technologies, and contributed to HashiCorp's runtime toolset. Notable achievements include designing Groupon’s Database-as-a-Service initiative and founding Stackjet Inc., which focused on enterprise cloud infrastructure. Early career experience includes serving as the Managing Member (CTO) of Gig Avenue and Director of Engineering at Care There. Academic background includes studies at the University of Washington from 1997 to 1999.
