Juan C. Pizarro has a diverse work experience in the field of research and academia. Juan C. began their career as a Postdoctoral research fellow at the Institut Pasteur, where they focused on structural characterization of Plasmodium proteins involved in the invasion of human red blood cells. After that, they joined the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center as a Postdoctoral research fellow. Juan C. then worked as a Research Associate at The Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC), contributing to various research projects. In 2012, they joined Tulane University as an Assistant Professor, where they worked until 2019. At Tulane University, they gained experience in teaching and research. Currently, Juan is working at Cocrystal Pharma, Inc. Juan C. started as a Senior Scientist and later became a Principal Scientist, contributing to the company's research and scientific endeavors.

Juan C. Pizarro received their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the Universidad de Los Andes in 1996. Juan C. then pursued a DEA in Molecular Evolution at Paris-Sud University (Paris XI) from 1996 to 1997. Juan C. continued their education at the same university and obtained a PhD in Biochemistry, completing their studies from 1998 to 2001.
