Steven Burakoff

Steven J. Burakoff, M.D., is currently the Lillian and Henry Stratton Professor of Medicine and served as Director of The Tisch Cancer Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine from 2007-2017. He is currently Dean for Cancer Innovation and Chief, Pediatric Oncology at the Icahn School of Medicine. Prior to his appointment in 2007, he was the Director of the New York University Cancer Institute, and the Director of the Skirball Institute of Biomolecular Medicine. Before joining the New York University School of Medicine, in 2000, he was Chair of Pediatric Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Margaret M. Dyson Professor of Pediatrics at the Harvard Medical School. He was the recipient of the first Harvard Medical School Excellence in Mentoring Award. In 2009, Dr. Burakoff received the American Association of Immunologists Lifetime Achievement Award.
