Vesna Mitchell

Vesna Mitchell has extensive work experience in the field of protein engineering and molecular biology. Vesna began their career at Maxygen as a Postdoctoral Associate and Associate Scientist, where they focused on whole genome shuffling and molecular biology support for directed evolution projects. In 2002, they joined Codexis, Inc. as a Senior Scientist and later transitioned to roles such as Principal Scientist, Director of Molecular and Cellular Engineering, and Senior Director of Protein Engineering. Their responsibilities included directing evolution and protein engineering for biocatalysis, as well as leading molecular biology and directed evolution efforts for product development projects.

Vesna Mitchell holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Michigan State University. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Genetics and Evolution from the University of Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Vesna also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biology from the same University.
