Rui Rodrigues has extensive work experience in scientific research and development. Starting in 2008 as a Summer Student at UCB, they prototyped a tool for antibody-based drug research. In 2009, they worked as a Research Assistant at Escola Superior de Biotecnologia - UCP. From 2010 to 2015, Rui pursued their PhD at Imperial College London. In 2015, they joined the Jaramillo lab at the University of Warwick - School of Life Sciences as a Research Fellow, where they developed fluidic modules for complex directed evolution protocols. From 2018 to 2022, they worked at the University of Warwick, first as a Research Fellow at Warwick Medical School, focusing on the development of a prototype wearable lactate sensor, and then at WMG, where they worked on various projects involving motion capture datasets integration, low complexity protein spray deposition system development, and low-cost printing platform development for microfluidic devices. Currently, Rui Rodrigues is a Senior Scientist at coding.bio since 2022.
Rui Rodrigues pursued their education in a chronological order. Rui completed their Licenciatura degree in Bioinformática (Bioinformatics) from Universidade Católica Portuguesa between 2004 and 2008. Following this, they pursued an MSc in Applied Bioinformatics at Cranfield University from 2007 to 2008. In 2009, Rui joined Imperial College London and obtained an MRes degree in Systems and Synthetic Biology, completing it in 2010. Rui then continued their education at the same institution and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Synthetic Biology from Imperial College London between 2010 and 2015.
