G. Craig Lee

Principal Advisor, Structural Engineering at Coffman Engineers

A forensic guru of sorts, Craig has performed over 100 forensic investigations since 1981 and continues to do so today. When buildings fail, he’s often asked, “How did this happen and why?” For Craig, determining the trigger mechanism of failures is like solving a complicated puzzle. He also enjoys the next step — communicating the results of the investigation in a logical, clear, and understandable fashion to all people of varied backgrounds who usually are not engineers. It is especially rewarding for Craig to be able to help people understand complex situations by using lay terms that bridge the esoteric language barriers associated with the profession of engineering.

Craig mentors younger engineers on best practices he has seen as an ongoing part of his daily routine. Craig has also worked as an expert reviewer for the Oregon State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying to assist in resolving cases brought against practicing professional engineers.
