Andris Piebalgs

Andris Piebalgs has a diverse work experience spanning across various companies and roles. Andris is currently serving as the Data Science Lead for Energy Production and Operations at Cognite, a position they have held since September 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Data Scientist at Cognite from November 2020 to September 2022.

Before joining Cognite, Andris held multiple roles at Wood, starting as a Flow Assurance/Process Analytics Consultant from March 2018 to January 2020, and later transitioning to the position of Senior Engineer from January 2020 to November 2020.

Andris also has experience working in academia. Andris served as a Data Scientist at the University of Cambridge from September 2017 to March 2018, where they worked on the Isaac Physics project and successfully predicted user churn using data analysis techniques. Andris also participated in the Data Science Fellowship program at ASI Data Science in September and October 2017, which provided him with intensive training in machine learning and data science.

Additionally, Andris worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Imperial College London from June 2017 to September 2017, where they focused on developing computational fluid dynamics code for cardiovascular therapy and creating mathematical models for blood clot dissolution. Andris also worked as a Machine Learning Researcher at Fifty Media (Fifty Technology Ltd) for a brief period in September and October 2016.

Andris started their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Imperial College London in July 2012, gaining valuable research experience early in their career.

Their work experience showcases their expertise in data science, machine learning, and engineering, as well as their ability to adapt to different industries and roles.

Andris Piebalgs pursued their higher education at Imperial College London, where they earned a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Chemical Engineering from 2009 to 2013. Following this, they went on to complete a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Chemical Engineering at the same institution from 2013 to 2017.
