Brent Butler has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Brent began their career as a GIS Analyst at F & D INTERNATIONAL (USA) LTD in 2012, where they conducted spatial analysis using ArcGIS and python programming. Brent also effectively communicated their findings through visually appealing maps.

In 2012, Brent joined Colorado Mountain School as a Mountain Guide & Avalanche Course Leader. During their time there, they applied critical decision-making and risk management frameworks while guiding outdoor activities such as heli-skiing, rock climbing, and mountaineering. Brent also excelled at distilling and communicating complex skills and knowledge to clients.

From 2017 to 2019, Brent ventured into entrepreneurship, founding Stratiform Mountain Guides. As the founder and lead guide, they launched and operated a business offering adventure outdoor trips. Brent gained valuable experience in sales, marketing, and operations.

In 2020, Brent worked as a Python Developer at Hatchback Cottages, where they contributed to addressing the housing crisis by developing a market-based solution for affordable housing. Brent wrote robust and serviceable code for a Flask app's backend and integrated tests using the Pytest framework.

Brent'snext role was at Rocky Mountain Institute in 2020, where they served as a Data Scientist. Brent used a CRISP-DM workflow to analyze and transform large-scale datasets into essential information for two white papers on accelerating the adoption of battery electric vehicles. Brent applied various techniques, such as clustering, dimensionality reduction, supervised methods, and deep learning, to uncover insights and create predictive models.

Currently, Brent works as a Software Engineer at Cognito Health since March 2021. Brent is involved in the requirements discovery, design, and implementation of a predictive patient monitoring platform. The platform provides caregivers with actionable data to improve patient care and safety while increasing care efficiency.

Throughout their career, Brent has demonstrated strong technical and analytical skills, as well as a passion for problem-solving and delivering impactful results.

Brent Butler obtained a Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Science/Geography from the University of Colorado Boulder between 2009 and 2013. Additionally, they achieved a Professional Level 3 Certification in Avalanche Forecasting and Risk Management from the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education from 2010 to 2014. Later, they pursued an IFMGA International Mountain Guide qualification from the American Mountain Guides Association, where they specialized in mountain guiding. In 2012 to 2014, they received Field Instructor Training in Course Leader Training (CLT) from the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education.
