Lead iOS Engineer at Cognoa

Brian Young has worked in the tech industry since 1995. Brian began their career as a Technical Director - Lighting and Texturing at Rhythm & Hues. In 1999, they moved to Pixar Animation Studios as a Technical Director, where they were the Head T.D. and co-lighting director on the two minute opening short for the home video release of "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command". In 2003, they joined PDI/Dreamworks as a Lighting Artist, where they worked on Madagascar, Far Far Away Idol, and Shrek 2. Brian was also a contributing member of the 'light' steering committee and lighting and compositing discussion groups. In 2005, they joined Laika/Will Vinton Studios as a Lighting Artist. In 2011, they began working at Luckow Design Studios as a UI Designer, where they worked on a touch based embedded web app for a video switching system. In 2013, they moved to 4D as a Technical Marketing Manager and Data Wrangler, where they analyzed customer data within their internal databases and managed marketing email campaigns. In 2015, they joined Netizaar Inc. as a Software Engineer. Brian then moved to Cognoa in 2018, where they worked as a Lead iOS Engineer and Software Engineer. Brian also regularly joined GeekSpeak as a Guest Host.

Brian Young attended INVASIVECODE from 2012 to 2012, where they studied iOS Objective-C Cocoa App development. Brian also attended Savannah College of Art and Design from 1991 to 1995, where they earned a BFA in Computer Animation.
