Paige Rudnick

Sr. Software Engineer at Cohesion

I didn't think I would end up wearing steel toe shoes and a bump cap to go to work after getting a degree in Computer Science. But! That's what happened! After working for a startup that gave me a taste of embedded software development, I landed a position at Fosber America where I wrote interfaces to various heavy industrial machines.

While working for Fosber remotely, I studied at the University of Minnesota where I earned my Masters in Computer Science. This made me not just a consumer of knowledge, but someone trained to discover new knowledge. After Graduate School I moved away from UI/UX, to get more involved in backend development in areas like security, and performance.

My aviation experience has come in handy in the office too. In the process of becoming an instructor I gained understanding of the Fundamentals of Instruction which has been informative for mentoring fellow devs, knowledge sharing, and communication. Indeed, becoming a commercial pilot with its focus on risk and resource management, then learning to instruct was my leadership training. I do also fall into the serious, focused attitude pilots are known for when the situation demands.

Currently a Sr. Engineer, ramping up to manage a team in a Lead position
