Manish Gupta

Manish Gupta has a diverse and extensive work experience in the technology industry. Manish started their career as a Summer Intern at Microsoft in 1998, where they were responsible for communication services provided by Windows CE. At Microsoft, they created functional specifications and designs for Web Server and RAS Server, as well as defined Telephony API and Crypto API using the Windows NT APIs.

After their internship, Manish joined Excite@Home in 1999 as a Software Engineer. Manish contributed to managing subscriber provisioning, back-office, and customer-care systems for @Home broadband subscribers. Manish also played a key role in integrating @Home subscriber namespace with Excite using Oracle external procedures and developing middleware between provisioning and billing for AT&T web hosting using Perl, Perl-DBI, and PL/SQL.

In 2002, Manish joined Google and held several roles over the years. As a Senior Software Engineer, they were a founding member of the team that built the billing and payments platform, including a Sarbanes-Oxley compliant billing system and the implementation of charging capabilities for various international forms of payment. Manish then became a Staff Software Engineer and led a team responsible for Google's Display Advertiser experience, where they created campaign creation wizards for new businesses and built the Display Ad Builder tool. Manish later became a Director of Engineering, overseeing several aspects of the Advertiser Platform, including Campaign Management, Account Management, API, Editor, Reporting, and Measurement. Finally, they served as VP Engineering at Google, where they executed and launched the new AdWords UI and laid foundations for consolidation across other advertiser applications.

In 2018, Manish joined Lyft as VP Engineering. Manish led the engineering teams responsible for the rideshare product, including the Driver, Rider, Enterprise, Marketplace, and Growth teams. Prior to this role, they also led the engineering teams for the "Customer Platform" at Lyft.

Most recently, in 2020, Manish joined Coinbase as the EVP Engineering.

Manish Gupta completed their Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Computer Engineering at the University of Mumbai from 1993 to 1997. Manish then pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1997 to 1999.
