Michael Ronemus is a seasoned research professional with a strong focus on genomic analysis and genetic testing. Currently serving as a Research Assistant Professor at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory since March 2007, Michael has significantly contributed to the development of the SMASH genomic assay for autism detection and has managed NIH-funded projects involving large autism cohorts. As Chief Science Officer at Marvel Genomics from September 2016 to November 2024, Michael successfully marketed the SMASH test and garnered clinical approvals and funding for further studies. Additionally, Michael has experience as an Adjunct Faculty member at Long Island University, mentoring graduate students in genetic research. With a Ph.D. in Biology from Yale University and a Bachelor's degree from Cornell University, Michael's expertise extends across various research and editorial roles, including previous positions as Executive Editor at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press and Associate Editor at Nature Publishing Group.
