Aaliyah Samuel, EdD, has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the education sector. Currently, they serve as the President and CEO of the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning. Prior to this, they were a Senior Fellow at Harvard University and a Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education, where they played a key role in developing and implementing policies to support education during the Covid-19 pandemic. Aaliyah has also held executive positions at NWEA, where they provided strategic direction for policy and advocacy, and at the National Governors Association, where they served as the Director of the Education Division. Earlier in their career, they worked in positions of increasing responsibility at First Things First, John E. White Elementary, and the School District of Hillsborough County. Additionally, they have served as an Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon University - Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy. In their various roles, Aaliyah Samuel has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving educational outcomes for students.
Aaliyah Samuel, EdD, began their education at Tuskegee University from 1996 to 2000, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Aaliyah then pursued a Masters degree in Special Education and Teaching from the University of South Florida from 2001 to 2003. Continuing their education, they earned an EdS in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from Nova Southeastern University from 2004 to 2006. Finally, they completed their Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University from 2006 to 2009.
