Mark Curtis-Chávez

Provost at College of DuPage

Mark Curtis-Chávez is the current Provost at College of DuPage. Prior to this, they held various positions at Lone Star College, Cuyahoga Community College, and Arizona Western College.

Curtis-Chávez began their career in education as a Division Chair for Communications at Arizona Western College in 2005. Mark then moved to Cuyahoga Community College in 2007, where they served as the Associate Dean of Liberal Arts for four years. In 2011, they were named the Interim Dean of Creative Arts before returning to their position as Associate Dean of Liberal Arts.

In 2013, Curtis-Chávez left Cuyahoga Community College to become the Dean of Instruction at Lone Star College-University Park. Mark served in this role for three years before being promoted to Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor at Lone Star College in 2016. In 2017, they were hired as the Special Assistant to the President at Lone Star College-CyFair, where they served for one year.

Curtis-Chávez has been Provost at College of DuPage since 2018. Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.

Mark Curtis-Chávez's educational career includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Toledo, a MA in English from Northern Illinois University, and a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature, General from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
