Christopher Matson

Graduate Teaching Fellow at Colorado School of Mines

Christopher Matson is an accomplished geologist with extensive experience in academia and industry. Currently serving as a Graduate Teaching Fellow and Research Coordinator for the MUDTOC Consortium at the Colorado School of Mines since July 2021, Christopher has previously held positions as a Sr. Geologist and Technical Advisor at Diversified Well Logging, LLC, and as a Strategic Advisor at Cartalytics. As the owner of KPI Consulting LLC - Geological Services, Christopher provided consulting services from 2020 to 2023. Christopher's leadership roles include General Manager and North American Technical Manager at Stratum Reservoir and Sr. Geologist and Technical Advisor at Weatherford Laboratories. Christopher has also contributed to academia as a Geology Instructor at Helena College and as a Research Assistant at the University of Calgary. Christopher holds a PhD in Geology and Geological Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, a Master of Science in Sedimentology from the University of Calgary, and dual Bachelor's degrees in Geology and Zoology from the University of Montana.
