Tiana Kennedy

AVP, Communications For Csu & The Csu System at Colorado State University System

Tiana Kennedy serves as the Assistant Vice Chancellor of External Relations for the CSU System.

Tiana came to Colorado State University in 2008 and has held a variety of roles for the university at its downtown Denver office. In her current position, Tiana serves as a member of the Chancellor’s cabinet and manages strategic communications, partnerships, and visibility for the System office. In addition, she teaches Strategic Digital Communications for the CSU Masters of Communications and Media Management program.

She began her professional career as a newspaper journalist for the Fort Collins Coloradoan, and continued into positions for several companies focused on public and media relations, outreach, and communications. In 2013, she founded an animal welfare non-profit called PawsCo, to help dogs and cats in need and to fill gaps within the shelter system; she continues to run the 350-volunteer organization in a volunteer capacity.

She holds a Master’s in Business Administration from CCU, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Technical Journalism from CSU.

Civic involvement is an important part of Tiana’s life and she has served on a number of boards of directors and commissions, including the Colorado Federation of Animal Welfare Agencies and the Mayor’s Commission of Strategic Partnerships. In 2017, Tiana received the Denver Business Journal 40 Under Forty Award, and was awarded the Dumb Friends League “Friends Award” indicative of partnership excellence in 2019.

Tiana is passionate about sustainability, healthy food for all, access to education, and animal welfare. She enjoys traveling, being outdoors, and live music. Tiana and her husband Matt have two amazing rescue dogs: Elliott and Poe.
