Peter Xinya Zhang

Peter Xinya Zhang is an Associate Professor (Tenured) in the Department of Audio Arts and Acoustics at Columbia College Chicago, where teaching and research focus on various facets of acoustics, media arts, and culture. As Director of the China Initiative, Peter has successfully established partnership programs and managed recruitment efforts, significantly increasing enrollment while fostering collaborative research and cultural exchange with several prestigious Chinese institutions. Peter's academic contributions extend internationally as a Visiting Professor at multiple universities, including Peking University and Guizhou University, and as President of the Society of Chinese American Professors and Scientists. Peter's extensive research is supported by various cultural initiatives in China, particularly within the creative industries and traditional performance arts. Peter holds a Ph.D. in Physics, specializing in Acoustics, from Michigan State University, and a B.S. in Physics from Peking University.
