Tom Dowd is an experienced academic and game design professional, currently serving as the Interim Director of the School of Design and Interim Dean of the School of Media Arts at Columbia College Chicago since August 2006. Previously, Tom held positions such as Associate Dean and Associate Chair in the same institution, as well as Associate Professor in the Interactive Arts and Media Game Design major. Tom's industry experience includes roles such as Lead Game Designer at High Voltage Software and Day:1:Studios, and work as a Contract Technical Writer for Microsoft. Additionally, Tom was a Lead Game Designer at FASA Interactive, contributing to the acclaimed MechCommander, and served as Line Developer and Co-creator of the Shadowrun RPG at FASA Games, Inc. Tom holds a Master of Arts in Communication and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Arts from the New York Institute of Technology.
