Skylar Bogdanowitsch

Rocket Co-lead at Columbia Space Initiative

Skylar Bogdanowitsch is a Mechanical Engineering student at Columbia University, expected to graduate in May 2026. Currently serving as Rocket Co-Lead at Columbia Space Initiative since March 2023, Skylar coordinates rocket architecture and previously held the role of Fluids Systems Co-Lead, where significant achievements include launching the school’s first hybrid rockets and developing a high-performance nitrous oxide blow down system. Additionally, Skylar works as a Student Researcher at the Schiminovich Astronomy & Instrumentation Lab, contributing to the enhancement of a telescope instrument and co-authoring a published paper. An earlier internship in 2019 involved research on oligodendrocyte neurons in mice, employing various techniques in biological analysis. Skylar has also demonstrated leadership as the Operations Director of Columbia's largest engineering club, promoting space-related initiatives.
