Tori Bender

Tori Bender is a seasoned communications professional with a diverse background in health and nutrition advocacy. Currently serving as the Communications and Outreach Manager at the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia University Irving Medical Center since September 2014, Bender has also contributed as a Freelance Writer for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics since March 2011. Prior experience includes managing advocacy and communications at the Academy from 2005 to 2011, where responsibilities involved writing newsletters focused on healthcare reform and planning nutritional education webinars. Earlier roles include Development Manager at the New York League of Conservation Voters, where Bender published editorials and collaborated with city council members on pertinent legislation. Tori Bender holds a Master of Journalism from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania.
