Scott Lau

Scott Lau has extensive experience in law enforcement and compliance, currently serving as a Compliance Services Member at CALEA since June 2023. Prior to this role, Scott worked as a Site-Based Team Assessor for CALEA from October 2019 to June 2023 and was the Accreditation Manager at the Roanoke Police Department from July 2016 to June 2023, where oversight of accredited programs for the Law Enforcement and Training Academy was a key responsibility. Scott's background also includes serving as a Police Lieutenant at Virginia Tech Police Department, where the role of Patrol Commander was fulfilled until retirement in February 2017. Additionally, Scott held the position of Task Force Officer with the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force from 2009 to 2011, focusing on national security matters. Scott's early career began as a Police Officer with the Blacksburg Police Department from 1987 to 1998. Educational achievements include participation in the Administrative Officers Course at the Southern Police Institute, as well as studies at Ferrum College and New River Community College.
