Mathew Mirabella has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Mathew started their career as a Tutor at Monash University in 1998. Mathew then worked at Telstra from 2000 to 2012, where they held various positions such as User Centred Design Specialist and Emerging Technology Specialist. Mathew also worked as a Manager in the Centre for Accessibility. From 2012 to 2014, they served as an IT and Accessibility consultant at RMIT University. In 2014, they had a seasonal clerkship in corporate law at Russell Kennedy Lawyers. In 2015, they worked as a Paralegal in the International Institutional Banking Group at ANZ. Mathew then worked at The University of Melbourne as an IT and Accessibility consultant from 2015 to 2017. From 2017 to 2018, they held senior associate positions at the Supreme Court of Victoria. Mathew then joined the ACCC in 2018 as a Project Officer, Investigator, and Analyst. In 2020, they moved to the Commonwealth Treasury and held various roles, including Legal Officer, Senior Legal Officer, and Senior Lawyer/Assistant Director.

Mathew Mirabella has a diverse education history. Mathew obtained their Bachelor of Science with Honours in Chemistry and Physics from Monash University, where they studied from 1993 to 1996. Mathew then went on to complete their Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Psychology and Philosophy at the same university, graduating in 1999.

After a gap in their education, Mathew returned to academia and pursued a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree at RMIT University from 2011 to 2016, specializing in Law. Following the completion of their J.D., they obtained a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from The College of Law Australia in 2016.

In addition to their degrees, Mathew has obtained several certifications. Mathew became an Australian Lawyer after being admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria in October 2016. Mathew also holds a Baseline Security Clearance from the Department of Defence, obtained in April 2020. Furthermore, they have an Australian Legal Practitioner certification from the Legal Services Board of Victoria, acquired in October 2020. Recently, in January 2021, Mathew obtained an NV1 Security Clearance from the Department of Defence.
