Shannon Gurek is an accomplished finance and operations executive with extensive experience in the higher education sector. Currently serving as Vice President for Finance and Operations at the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts since November 2022, Shannon previously held the role of Vice President for Finance and Administration at Mount Holyoke College from August 2013 to June 2022. Earlier in Shannon's career, a tenure at Amherst College from March 1996 to July 2013 included the position of Associate Treasurer, where various responsibilities in the financial offices were undertaken, including serving as interim CFO. Shannon Gurek holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from Nichols College and an Executive MBA in Business Administration and Management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts was founded in 1991 to serve the needs of the Pioneer Valley. Encompassing 69 cities and towns in the Connecticut River Valley (Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties), the Foundation provides a vehicle for residents to focus their philanthropy on this beautiful and increasingly diverse region. The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts seeks to enrich the quality of life of the people of Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin Counties by: • Encouraging philanthropy. • Developing a permanent, flexible endowment. • Assessing and responding to emerging and changing needs. • Providing a vehicle for donors with varied interests and at various levels of giving. • Serving as a resource, catalyst and coordinator for charitable activities. • Promoting efficiency in the management of charitable funds.
