Ben Colton has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and companies. Ben started their career in 2003 as an IT Service Desk Retail Support Analyst at TS Operations/TA Blockbuster, providing 1st and 2nd level support to UK stores. Ben also served as a Store Manager, overseeing a team of Customer Service Representatives. In 2014, they joined Rentokil Initial as an IT Service Desk Support Analyst, where they were responsible for resolving incidents and providing training. Ben then moved to Interserve as an IT Service Desk Analyst, managing IT incidents and service requests, and later transitioned to the role of IT Change Analyst, supporting change management processes. Since 2019, Ben has been working at The National Lottery Community Fund, initially as an IT Change Manager, responsible for change management and authorization of minor/low impact change. Ben later took on the role of IT Governance Manager, ensuring resource management, designing and improving the IT Governance Framework, and managing risk assessment and escalation. In 2021-2022, they briefly served as the interim IT Governance Manager.
Ben Colton's education history includes a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Digital and Technology Specialist Data and Analytics from Northumbria University, which they pursued starting in 2021. Prior to this, they completed a BA (Hons) degree in Film and Video Production from Buckinghamshire New University, where they studied from 2002 to 2005.
In addition to their degrees, Ben has obtained several certifications. These include the Certified Data Protection Foundation (GDPR) from QA Ltd in December 2022, Microsoft Project Essentials (Course Attended) from QA Ltd in July 2022, Business Continuity Foundation (Course Attended) from The BCI in May 2022, and the ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management from AXELOS Global Best Practice in March 2021.
Furthermore, they have also attended a course on MoR Practitioner in Risk Management, and achieved the MoR Foundation Certificate in Risk Management from AXELOS Global Best Practice in December 2020. Other certifications include the PRINCE2 Practitioner Certificate in Project Management and the PRINCE2 Foundation Certificate in Project Management, both from AXELOS Global Best Practice, obtained in October 2020 and February 2020 respectively.
Lastly, Ben holds the ITIL Intermediate Certificate in IT Release, Control and Validation from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, obtained in February 2017, and the ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate, also from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, obtained in February 2012.
