Susan Thomas MD FAAFP has been actively working in the medical field for many years. Susan started their career in 1991 as a Family Physician at Maine General Medical Center and later worked as a Family Physician at Central Maine Healthcare from 1992 to 2022. During their tenure there, they also served as the Director of Clinical Information Services, where they advised the executive team, IT team, and physicians on the use of IT in medical practice. Susan was a founding member of the first Family Practice section and served as a Medical Director.

In addition to their work at Central Maine Healthcare, Susan Thomas also held various positions in other organizations. Susan also worked as a Medical Director at GE Healthcare from 2005 to 2007 and as an EMR Champion at MedicaLogic from 1999 to 2001.

Currently, Susan Thomas MD FAAFP is a Family Physician at DFD Russell Medical Center, a position they have held since 2017. Susan'sextensive experience in various roles within the medical field showcases their expertise in clinical information services, healthcare IT consulting, and family medicine.

Susan Thomas MD FAAFP completed their primary education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from 1972 to 1976. Susan then pursued their medical education at Yale University School of Medicine from 1983 to 1987, earning their Doctor of Medicine degree. Afterwards, they completed their residency training in Family Medicine at The University of Connecticut School of Medicine from 1987 to 1990.
