Jerry Stanger has a diverse work experience in various leadership and management roles in the healthcare and social services sector. Jerry worked at Community Living BC as the Director of Strategic Operations, where they supported the organization in strategic planning, risk management, and project management. Jerry also led change projects to improve services and compliance with government directives. Prior to that, Jerry was the Director of the Provincial Assessment Centre, overseeing a multidisciplinary team providing clinical assessment and treatment to individuals with intellectual disabilities and psychiatric illnesses. Jerry also played a key role in the implementation of CLBC's complex needs service strategy and the transition to a new healthcare facility.
Jerry has also worked at Fraser Health Authority as a Clinical Director in various areas, including residential care, assisted living, and home health. Jerry was also the Director of the Acquired Brain Injury Program and Choice in Supports for Independent Living. Additionally, they have experience as a Project Manager at Fraser Health Authority.
Jerry's earlier experience includes roles as an Instructor/Tutor at Okanagan College, a Regional Coordinator/Interim Provincial Coordinator for the Provincial Brain Injury Program at Vancouver Coastal Health, and a Social Worker at the Ministry of Children & Family Development.
Jerry Stanger's education history begins in 1992 when they attended Camosun College and earned an Associate of Arts degree in Sociology, which they completed in 1994. In 1993, they enrolled at the University of Victoria and pursued a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, graduating with distinction in 1995.
Jerry then furthered their education at the Justice Institute of British Columbia in 1999, where they obtained a Certificate in Management/Supervision with a focus on Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management. Continuing their professional development, Jerry obtained their Registered Social Worker certification from the BC College of Social Workers in September 2013.
In 2003, Jerry's academic journey led him to The University of British Columbia, where they earned a Master's Degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management, which they completed in 2005. Their commitment to professional certifications continued in 2014 when they obtained the Certified Health Executive credential from the Canadian College of Health Leaders.
Jerry's pursuit of knowledge continued in recent years. In 2018, they obtained PROSCI Certification from Prosci Canada, specializing in Change Management. Most recently, in 2020 and 2021, Jerry attended Simon Fraser University and acquired a Certificate in Project Management, establishing their expertise in this field.
