Dr. John Cortes has a diverse work experience in healthcare administration and leadership roles. Dr. John currently serves as the Director of Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center at Community Memorial Healthcare since August 2017. Prior to that, they were the Administrator for Ambulatory Care at Ventura County Health Care Agency from September 2012 to October 2015. In this role, they were responsible for developing and implementing nursing leadership programs and advancing standards of practice in ambulatory medicine clinics. From August 2007 to June 2011, Dr. Cortes worked as the Director of Patient and Community Health Education at Dignity Health. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Public Administration from Bowie State University from 2002 to 2005. Dr. John also holds a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Development from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, which they earned from 1999 to 2001.

In addition to their degrees, Dr. Cortes has obtained several certifications. In 2016, they completed the Six Sigma Black Belt Professional (SSBBP), Executive Management Certified, Six Sigma Green Belt Certified, Change Management Specialist (CMS), and Project Management - Lean Process Certified programs offered by the Management and Strategy Institute. Dr. John also obtained the Chronic Disease Self Management Facilitator certification from Stanford University in 2009.
