Crysta Garcia

Teaching Artist at Community-Word Project

Crysta Garcia, a NYC native, poet, and traveler, writes to explore the themes of vulnerability, self-worth, societal issues, and their overlap in one’s identity. She admires poetry that breaks down the conventional standards of what it “should be,” and urges her students to make their own rules in their craft. She currently holds an BA in journalism and sociology from The University at Albany and an MFA in poetry from The New School.
