Leigh Wells is the Deputy Director of Programs and Operations at Community-Word Project. Leigh has dedicated their career to Arts Education and Social Justice.

Leigh started out as a Book Retailer for Special Events with Mobile Libris. Leigh then became an Educator & Trainer with NYC H2O. Later, Leigh became the Associate Director of Education with Museum of the Moving Image where they worked for seven years. After that, Leigh became a Media Specialist with PROOF Media for Social Justice. Leigh has also worked as a Teaching Artist with both the Museum of Arts and Design and the Queens Museum.

In their current role as Deputy Director at Community-Word Project, Leigh leads a team that provides arts education programming to under-resourced schools and communities throughout New York City. Leigh is passionate about their work and is committed to making a difference in the lives of others.

Leigh Wells has a MFA in Photography, Video & Related Media from School of Visual Arts and a BFA in Studio Art and BA in English from Northern Kentucky University. Leigh also studied at the University of Hyderabad.

Leigh Wells works with Craig Hayes - Deputy Director For External Affairs & CXO, Shokoofeh Rajabzadeh - Program Manager, Teaching Artist Sustainability & Arts Access, and Dale Novella - Co-Director, Teaching Artist Project. Their manager is Michele Kotler, Founder + Executive Director.
