Katherine O'Connor is an experienced volunteer services coordinator currently working at CommunityHealth since January 2023 and serving as a community organizer for the Illinois Single Payer Coalition since December 2022. Previously, Katherine held roles as a field organizer for Sean Casten for Congress and as a public affairs intern at the Executive Office of Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Early career experiences include roles at Albion College, including nature center assistant, where responsibilities included developing standard operating procedures and providing HR support. Katherine also has significant experience in early childhood education and community organizing roles with Naperville Park District and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan. Katherine holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government, with a focus on Women's Studies from Albion College.

Founded in 1993, CommunityHealth is dedicated to serving the uninsured and underserved in Chicago and surrounding communities. We provide over 17,000 medical and dental visits for more than 10,000 patients every year. This level of care is made possible thanks to the time and talent of more than 1,000 volunteers, including 350+ providers (physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, counselors, etc.). CommunityHealth’s main facility, the Lederman Family Health Center, is located in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood. In 2010, we opened a satellite in Chicago’s south side Englewood neighborhood — a community with great need and limited resources. As the largest volunteer-based free medical facility in the United States, we offer demonstrated success and an innovative model for providing compassionate and comprehensive medical and dental care to the uninsured.
