Ricky Nathvani is an accomplished researcher and freelance writer with a diverse background in machine learning, data science, and science communication. Currently serving as an Early Career Research Fellow at Imperial College London since March 2019, Ricky utilizes high-resolution satellite imagery and geospatial analysis to investigate urban heat islands in Accra, Ghana. Previous positions include Research Associate in Machine Learning and Data Science, focusing on urban environmental exposure estimates, and freelance scriptwriting for both Veritasium and Complexly's SciShow. Ricky's early career included contributions as a Science Journalist for The Naked Scientists, co-producing a show on Nuclear Physics, and a Software Contractor at Brainlabs Digital, where expertise in machine learning and programming was applied to optimize online marketing strategies. Ricky holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Particle Physics from UCL, an MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology, and a Master’s Degree in Physics from the University of Oxford.
