Senior Legal Counsel

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel (2 years PQE +) to join our Legal team. 

Reporting to the Global Head of Legal, you will:

  • Review, draft, and negotiate a range of commercial agreements with customers, vendors and partners, as well as advise on general ad-hoc queries, developing a ‘trusted advisor’ relationship with our Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Product, Data and HR teams so that the business can move forward at pace and in compliance both with regulation and our internal policies.
  • Support on corporate transactions including equity and debt fundraisings, M&A and secondary share sales.
  • Support on registrable intellectual property strategy, including managing the registrations of global trademarks, maintaining IP registers and liaising with external counsel on IP-related dispute resolution.
  • Support on employment matters, including expansion into new territories, implementation of share incentive schemes and managing yourself or liaising with external counsel on employment-related dispute resolution.
  • Support the development of more junior members of the Legal team and lead the development and continuous improvement of appropriate legal templates and processes, working to align legal objectives and business objectives in a collaborative manner.
  • Depending on your experience, advise on complex matters and strategic projects e.g. product launches, commercial litigation, and regulatory matters.
  • Be confident working with a large degree of autonomy.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work and contributes to an informal
working environment. You will:

  • Be a qualified lawyer in a relevant jurisdiction, with at least 2 years of post qualification experience, either in-house or in private practice.
  • Have excellent technical and negotiation skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise and legally robust correspondence, advice, contracts, policies and other documentation as required, and with experience negotiating complex legal issues.
  • Have a willingness to roll up your sleeves and dig into the details of projects working as part of a team —both with other lawyers and with non-legal partners.
  • Have a commercial mindset and be able to make pragmatic decisions, balancing legal and commercial drivers, juggling multiple priorities and working within tight timeframes.
  • Be self-motivated with the ability to identify and do work without being instructed, whilst also being a team player, fostering knowledge sharing and the development of other lawyers and paralegals.
  • Enjoy building and maintaining good relationships both internally and externally at all levels.
