Samuel Paterson is a predoctoral researcher at Comunidad de Madrid since December 2023, focusing on the development of a doctoral thesis regarding bioactive and bioavailable compounds from microalgae species Nannochloropsis gaditana and Tetraselmis chuii. Prior to this role, Samuel worked as a senior technician at CIAL (CSIC-UAM) from January 2022 to December 2023, where responsibilities included evaluating the molecular basis of the immunomodulatory activity of lunasin-enriched soybean extract and participating in a project exploring microalgae as a source of bioactive compounds. Earlier experience includes a research internship at CIAL from January to July 2021, studying the immunomodulatory effects of lunasin, and a practical student role at IMDEA Alimentación in 2020, focusing on immuno-nutritional strategies for lipid metabolism in disease contexts. Educationally, Samuel is pursuing a PhD in Pharmacy at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, with a master's degree in Immunology and a bachelor's degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
