Michael Benson

Michael Benson began their work experience as an International Co-operation Specialist at the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations in 2006. Michael then went on to hold various roles within the ministry, including Superintendent Airtanker Operations and Superintendent Aviation Management.

In 2011, Benson became a Working Group Member at the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre, a position they held until 2019.

In 2020, Benson joined FPInnovations as the Manager of Wildfire Operations and Government Relations. Michael left this role in 2023.

Currently, Benson is the Director of Business Development at Conair Aerial Firefighting, where they lead a team of professionals and ensures the company's fleet of aircraft is equipped with the latest tools and technology for firefighting operations.

Michael Benson earned a Master of Business Administration in Executive Management with a Leadership Specialization from Royal Roads University. Michael also completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Psychology from the University of Victoria. Additionally, Michael earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Royal Roads University.
