Therapeutic Recreation Lead/ Camp Director at Conejo Recreation & Park District

Carolina Garcia-Melo has a diverse and extensive work experience, primarily focused on working with individuals with disabilities.

From 2019 to the present, they have been working at the Conejo Recreation & Park District as a Therapeutic Recreation Lead/Camp Director. In this role, they design and leads various activities, modifies them to meet participants' needs, and fosters enthusiasm and fair play.

Prior to this, from 2019 to 2019, they were a Therapeutic Recreation Intern at the same organization. Their responsibilities included assisting in program facilitation and development, establishing rapport with participants, and redirecting their focus.

From 2015 to the present, Garcia-Melo has been a Facilitator/Translator at Teen to Young Adults: The Gathering Place. Carolina conducts initial assessments, monitors progress, and communicates with parents regarding group activities and goals.

In 2014, they served as an Office Assistant/Attendant at the Child and Family Studies Center, performing administrative tasks, filing paperwork, and assisting in event coordination.

During the same year, they were also an Intern at the same organization, where they wrote and modified lesson plans for children with disabilities, recorded their development, and implemented adjustments.

In 2014, Garcia-Melo worked as a Childcare Assistant at Cloud 9 Caroline's Daycare and Preschool, providing a safe environment, meals, and assisting children with hygiene.

Their earliest experience was in 2013, where they served as a Television Host for YEU Jovenes Por Cristo, organizing shows and assisting in set design.

Carolina Garcia-Melo has a diverse education history. Carolina is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreational Therapy from California State University, Long Beach. This program is scheduled to be completed in 2020.

In 2015, Carolina obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Child and Adolescent Development with an emphasis in early childhood from California State University, Northridge. Prior to their undergraduate studies, they earned a High School Diploma from Hawthorne Math and Science Academy in 2011.

To complement their education, Carolina also holds a certification in Adult & Child CPR & AED/Standard First Aid, which they obtained from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in June 2019.
