Michelle Chrétien has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations and roles. Michelle began their career at Dalhousie University as a Research Associate from 1998 to 1999. Michelle then served as a Visiting Scientist at Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) for a few months in 2000. Following this, they worked as a Visiting Scientist at Durham University for a brief period in 2002.

In 2005, Chrétien joined Concordia University as an NSERC Post Doctoral Fellow and contributed to research projects until 2007. Michelle then transitioned to industry, joining Xerox in 2007. At Xerox, Chrétien held various roles, including Senior Research Scientist, Materials from 2007 to 2012, Project Manager from 2010 to 2013, Program Manager, Strategic Projects from 2013 to 2016, Senior R&D Manager, Materials Science from 2012 to 2018, and finally as Global Program Manager, Novel Electronics | Electronic Materials from 2015 to 2018.

In 2015, Chrétien also began their tenure as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology at McMaster University until 2018.

From 2018 to 2020, Chrétien worked at Sheridan College as the Director, Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Design Technologies, contributing to the development of the college's applied science and technology initiatives. Subsequently, they assumed the role of Director of Applied Research in the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology at Sheridan College until 2020.

Most recently, Chrétien joined Conestoga College in 2020 as the Associate Vice President of Research.

Overall, their work experience showcases a strong background in research, academia, and leadership roles in both the university and industry settings.

Michelle Chrétien attended the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University from 2015 to 2016, where they specialized in Executive Management with a focus on Strategy. Prior to that, they completed their PhD in Physical Organic Chemistry at the University of Ottawa from 1999 to 2005. Michelle also holds a BSc in Chemistry from Dalhousie University, which they earned from 1994 to 1998. In terms of additional certifications, Michelle obtained a certificate in Finance for Non-Financial Managers from the University of California, Irvine Extension in August 2015. Michelle also holds a DfLSS Green Belt certification from Air Academy Associates that was obtained in 2008. Additionally, in 2007, they completed a leadership program at the Centre for Creative Leadership.
