Jason Heavyrunner

Jason HeavyRunner has a diverse work experience in the field of social services and education. Jason currently works as the Circle of Care Program Director and ICWA Social Worker for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes since February 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Permanency Foster Care Social Worker for the same organization from January 2020 to February 2021.

From 2017 to 2019, Jason worked as a Training & Technical Assistance, Mental Health Specialist at the University of Montana. Jason also served as the Health & Wellness Deputy Director at CSK Tribal Health from 2016 to 2017.

In their earlier roles, Jason worked for CSKT Social Services. Jason was the Trauma Informed Program Director from 2014 to 2016 and the Garrett Lee Smith Youth Suicide Prevention Program Manager from 2011 to 2014.

Additionally, Jason worked as the Student Success Coordinator/Instructor at Salish Kootenai College in 2010.

Jason HeavyRunner has a Master's degree in Social Work from Walla Walla University, which they obtained from 2005 to 2006. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Human Services, General from Salish Kootenai College, studying from 1997 to 2001. Jason also holds an Associate's degree in Native American Studies from Salish Kootenai College, which they completed between 1994 and 1996. In addition, Jason obtained a Certificate of Completion in Native American Studies from Salish Kootenai College in 1993-1994.
