Judy Barton

She has been at the college in the Academic Upgrading since 2002. She taught full time as a Communications professor from 2002 until 2012. Since 2012, She has been the Coordinator of the Academic Upgrading/ACE Program.

She had always known what a difference a good teacher could make in someone’s life. She was a painfully shy child, and she have such a clear memory of the teachers who made her feel overwhelmed and uncomfortable, and the ones who “got” her and helped her come out of her shell. She channel those teachers every day and try always to make students feel the way those teachers made her feel.

She also believe deeply in the power of education to transform lives. In Academic Upgrading the team see transformation every day: students becoming more confident, learning how to advocate for themselves, meeting goals, experiencing success, moving forward.
