Jelmer Van Ast

CEO & Founder at Conference Compass

Jelmer Van Ast has worked in a variety of industries, from theater to technology. Jelmer is currently the CEO and founder of Conference Compass, a company that provides an app and website to help conference attendees navigate their way around the event. Prior to Conference Compass, Jelmer was a visiting researcher at City University of Hong Kong and the founder, playwright, actor, and producer of Theatergroep Boast. Jelmer also worked as a PhD student at Delft University of Technology and as a festival organizer for ATFR. In addition to their professional work, Jelmer has also been a volunteer for Stichting Veldwerk and an assistant patent officer for the European Patent Office.

Van Ast attended Delft University of Technology for both their BSc and MSc in Electrical Engineering. Jelmer then did an internship at the department of control engineering at University of Oulu before returning to Delft for their PhD in Systems & Control, Machine Learning.
