Albert Lilly III, DM has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of music. Albert is currently serving as the President of Hendricks Symphonic Society, Inc. since November 2021. Prior to this role, they were the Business Owner of Lilly Music since May 1986, where they composed and arranged music on a customized basis and provided private lessons on various instruments and music theory and composition.
From June 2018, Albert worked as a Bach Artist/Clinician for Conn-Selmer, Inc., specifically promoting the use of Bach trumpets through their performances, clinics, and teaching events. From January 2013, they served as the Principal Trumpet for Hendricks Symphony Orchestra, performing in concerts and solo recitals.
Additionally, Albert had significant involvement in various organizations. Since May 1998, they served as the Calendar Editor for the International Trumpet Guild, responsible for collecting, editing, and publishing events of interest for the website and journal. Albert became a member and Hall of Fame member of the Central States Judges Association, Inc. in June 1996, where they held roles such as music caption head, web design director, and webmaster.
Albert also served as an adjudicator for Winter Guard International in the Winds Division starting in January 2015 and was part of the panel for the 2019 World Championships. Albert was an Assistant Professor of Music at Marian University Indianapolis from June 2013 to May 2021, teaching and providing guidance to music majors.
Prior to that, they worked as a Professor at Indiana Wesleyan University from September 2005 to September 2019, teaching various classes in different departments and participating in curriculum development. Albert's work experience also includes a role as the Assistant Director of Bands at Monrovia High School from August 2005 to August 2018, where they worked with various musical ensembles and arranged music for marching bands, jazz ensembles, and solo competitions.
Albert Lilly III, DM has an extensive education history in the field of music. Albert pursued their education in various esteemed institutions, starting with their attendance at Ball State University in 1982, where they began studying Music Performance and Music Education. However, after their freshman year, they transferred to DePauw University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Music degree in 1986. During their time at DePauw University, they also pursued studies in Economics and Management.
Following their undergraduate studies, Albert continued their education at Butler University from 1987 to 1988, earning a Master of Music degree in Music Performance with a focus on General studies. Eventually, they embarked on their doctoral journey at Indiana University Bloomington, where they completed their Doctor of Music degree in Music Performance and Brass Pedagogy in 2004.
In addition to their academic achievements, Albert Lilly III has obtained several certifications throughout their career. Albert became an ISSMA Certified Adjudicator through the Indiana State School Music Association in August 2021. Furthermore, they hold accreditations in Solo and Ensemble through the state of Indiana and obtained certifications in Solo and Ensemble Instrumental and District Jazz Events through LinkedIn in February 2017 and January 2017, respectively.
