Doug Talley has a diverse work experience in the music industry. Doug started their career in 1984 as a Music Teacher at Shawnee Mission usd 512 and later became a Faculty Member at Emporia Jazz Camp from June 1989 to June 2001. In 1995, they established their own company called Talley Music Productions, where they worked as an Owner and Independent Music Professional. Doug also worked as a Saxophone Artist / Clinician at Conn-Selmer, Inc. starting in June 1995. Doug joined the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra as a Musician in 2003 and also worked as a Jazz Camp Faculty Member at Kansas City Kansas Community College starting in June 2006. Additionally, Doug is known for their performances with the Doug Talley Quartet, which they formed in 1995, and has collaborated with various jazz figures throughout the Midwest.

Doug Talley attended The University of Kansas from 1977 to 1982, where they obtained a Bachelor of Music Education (BME) degree with a field of study in Music Education. After that, they pursued further education at the University of North Texas from 1982 to 1984 and completed a Master of Music Education (MME) degree with a field of study in Music.
