Dr. Frank Perez

Dr. Frank Perez has a strong background in music education and leadership roles. Dr. Frank began their career as the Director of Bands and Chair of Fine Arts at Ganesha High School, where they conducted various bands, taught general music courses, and served as the department chair. Dr. Frank then moved on to Graceland University, where they served as the Director of Bands, Music Department Coordinator, and conductor of the Symphonic Band and Jazz Band. At Baker University, they took on the role of Director of Bands, conducting multiple ensembles and teaching trombone lessons and music education courses. Currently, they hold the position of Artist/Clinician at Conn-Selmer, Inc. and serves as the President of the Kansas Bandmasters Association. Dr. Perez has a comprehensive understanding of instrumental music education and has supervised student teachers throughout their career.

Dr. Frank Perez has a strong educational background in music, with degrees in Wind Band Conducting, Music Education, and Trombone Performance. Dr. Frank earned their Bachelor of Music (BM) degree in Music Education with a specialization in Trombone Performance from the University of Southern California, where they studied from 1993 to 1997. Dr. Frank continued their education at the same university, completing their Master of Music (MMed) degree in Music Education from 1998 to 2003. Dr. Perez furthered their studies at The University of Kansas, where they obtained their Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree in Wind Band Conducting from 2007 to 2015.

In addition to their formal education, Dr. Perez has also obtained a certification in Narrative Portraiture: On Location in New York City from Lynda.com in December 2019.
