Alan Welby

Alan Welby is an experienced leader in innovation and strategy, currently serving as Chief Product Officer and Executive Director of Delivery at Connected Places Catapult since June 2022. Prior to this role, Alan held several significant positions, including Director of Innovation at North East Local Enterprise Partnership and Director of Research and Innovation Services at Liverpool John Moores University. Alan's career spans various strategic roles such as Executive Director at Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership and One NorthEast, and Deputy Chief Executive at Black Country Consortium. Earlier experience includes a National Expert role at the European Commission and various positions related to European policy. Alan's educational background includes a degree in Government and European Community Studies from Newcastle University and further studies at Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
