Rai Umair Basharat

Rai Umair Basharat has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Starting in 2005, they worked as a Lead Consultant for Unique World Pvt. Ltd., where they led teams and was responsible for architecture and design on the SharePoint platform. Rai then joined Stargate Global Consulting as a SharePoint Principal Consultant, where they focused on solution selling and consulting assignments. In 2010, they founded Maventor Pvt Ltd and served as a SharePoint Mentor and Trusted Advisor, managing business case development, bid management, and vendor relationships.

Basharat co-founded Food Connection Pakistan in 2011 and served as the Co-Founder and CTO/CPO. Rai then co-founded EatOye Pvt. Ltd in 2013 and held the position of Co-Founder and CTO/CPO, leading the technology, product direction, and operations for the food ordering startup. In 2015, they took on the role of Managing Director at foodpanda Pakistan, where they successfully merged two teams and grew the business to 150,000 monthly orders.

Basharat served as the CTO of Arpatech (Pvt) Ltd from 2016 to 2018, overseeing a multi-million dollar sales pipeline and managing a large team in various areas. Rai also worked as the CTO of Daraz, a leading eCommerce marketplace, from 2016 to 2018, responsible for technology delivery and managing a significant IT budget.

In 2018, they joined Connection as the Director of eCommerce, leading data management, analytics, and data quality teams. Rai was later promoted to the position of Sr. Director of Data Technology and eCommerce, where they currently manage the data technology and eCommerce departments.

Most recently, in 2021, Basharat co-founded Caremiles Inc, focusing on turning climate intent into climate action at scale.

Rai Umair Basharat attended Deakin University from 2004 to 2005, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Software Development. Prior to that, they studied at Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology from 2001 to 2004, majoring in Computer Science (Transfer). Before entering university, they completed their Intermediate in Commerce from Professional College of Commerce and Economics from 1999 to 2001. Rai Umair Basharat's early education took place at Foundation Public School from 1984 to 1998.
